YUUM - real Japanese Mochi

The Challenge

YUUM is a provider of real Japanese Mochi. Handcrafted in Japan the brand offers both a cool fruit and a cream ice collection available in 19 flavours.

Launching into the UK market, the branding team wanted a packaging solution that caught the eye, was freezer safe, could be used to store products between servings and was robust in transit.

The solution

Following the brief set by the customer, our design engineers created a glued carton with an innovative two-layer lid. Glued in-line, this lid could be peeled open via perforations to reveal an aperture within the board below. This hinging lid solution strengthened the carton, provided a tamper proofing seal as well as a novel unboxing experience.

Manufactured from Proxima Plus GC2 (Hard Sized) 560mic 325gsm folding box board the carton was litho printed 4 colour process plus 1 PMS to the uncoated face and 1 PMS to the coated reverse side.

To further the premium nature of the offering the carton was also embossed & foiled in Wisteria Pink.

The result

These cartons provide a real sense of occasion to the end user. And one that reflects the premium nature of the contents within. Fully recyclable and with a premium finish of embossing and a foiled lid the packaging solution fully achieved its aims.
