Winny’s Meals – Vibrant Carton Board Sleeves

Winny’s Meals is an exciting new food retail brand launched by Shaun Sookoo and named after his inspirational mother Winny.  With a focus on health and tasty Caribbean food, the brand is going from strength to strength, thanks in part, to Shaun’s participation in The Money Maker on Channel 4.

Their offering is simple but well thought out – a lovingly hand-crafted range of tasty, healthy and convenient homestyle Caribbean home cooked meals that people all over the UK can enjoy. These are then flash-frozen for freshness and convenience and delivered straight to the customers’ door.

The challenge

The team at Winny’s meals needed a carton board sleeve that reflected the heritage and vibrancy of Caribbean food, whilst striking a balance between aesthetic appeal and sustainable credibility. With four print variants required; including beef, chicken, fish and vegan, the sleeves needed to stand out whilst protecting the tasty food in transit.

The solution

Sarcina profiled the packaging tray to create a full width, open ended glued sleeve that fitted snuggly around the tray. We litho printed the sleeve with four spot colours and black, on 405mu white backed box board with a machine seal. These were produced at differing print volumes to suit the customers requirement.

The result

A vibrant, richly coloured set of sleeves conjuring up the delights and joy of Caribbean food, reflecting the brand and the inspirational story behind it. Featuring on Channel 4’s, The Money Maker where Eric Collins helps Winny’s Meals to prepare to pitch to major supermarket chains – we have no doubt that this exciting and innovative brand is here to stay.
