Sarcina Packaging can supply plain shipping labels for a wide variety of different desktop and large format printers. There are two main types of plain shipping labels, direct thermal and thermal transfer labels. Each method uses a thermal printhead that uses heat to create text and images. Thermal transfer printers use a heated ribbon to produce hard-wearing and durable images and text and can be used on a wide variety of label materials. Direct thermal printers don’t use a ribbon but instead use heat on specialist paper to produce an image. This does mean that direct thermal paper is particularly sensitive to heat and light. It is also very susceptible to abrasion which means the life of the printed material is particularly short.
