What is litho printed paperboard or carton board?

Litho printing is a method of printing that helps to create a stunning finish. The technique is most commonly compared to photographic print quality, providing the highest level of finish possible and providing the very best first impression on your customers.

Litho printing sees the printing plates being loaded into the press first before the required image or logo is transferred onto a rubber sheet and then onto the chosen substrate. The method utilises water-oil immiscibility, which means the image being printed attracts the ink from the rollers, while the unprinted area attracts the water and remains clear. Here at Sarcina, our litho printing plates come free of charge, but if you require one-off die forms, then additional charges will apply.

The result is a highly detailed and clear image that offers a far superior result compared to digital or flexo printing. This highly versatile method of printing can be utilised across solid board, folding boxboard, or coated and uncoated papers up to 700mu in thickness. This means that litho printing can be used across a huge variety of packaging options, most commonly tuck end cartons, reverse tuck end cartons, open ended container sleeves, shelf ready packaging, euro hook packaging, full overlapping boxes, pillow packs and much more.

To help you create the most efficient packaging options possible, our customers can also choose from a variety of assembly options, including multiple point crash lock bases, snap lock bases, tuck over tops and perforated creases. We also want to help you stand out from the crowd, which is why we can also provide an extensive array of design choices, including embossing, debossing, UV spotting and foiling, as well as matt, satin and gloss varnishing.
