Earlier this year Sarcina Packaging was approached by Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust to devise a bespoke solution to house their medical supplies and commonly used single-use medical apparatus in their cardiothoracic store, X-Ray stores and Cardiology stores.
After visiting the customer in Plymouth, Sarcina Packaging was able to design a completely bespoke Correx solution. This involved designing and prototyping a variety of pick bins that would hold the fast-moving items; they had to be suitable for medical environments. There was also a requirement for bins that were able to hold long, thin items such as catheters. For this Sarcina proposed a Correx base with locking plastic tubes to segregate the different items and assist in holding the items upright.
Paul Cady, the Supply Chain Manager had this to say about working with Sarcina Packaging:
Sarcina Packaging Ltd have supported Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust to implement a bespoke Correx storage solution for our clinical environments.
The outcome has been a competitively priced, robust and re-usable wipe down solution. Which supports meet infection control requirements, increase storage capacity and improve visual management for clinical staff members.
Correx was an ideal solution for the NHS, who require products that can be easily wiped down and adhere to infection control requirements. Additionally, the newly implemented Correx meant that capacity in the storerooms was increased significantly. Where before, items were stored on shelves and leaned against the wall, the items are now organised in a much more intuitive and easy to access fashion.
