An established and very successful gluten, dairy and wheat free food brand, Kirsty’s is a familiar sight on the shelves of multiple retailers. With a range of products including ready meals and pizzas, Sarcina Packaging was appointed to design and develop a range of food safe skillets to present a luxury apple pie and chocolate torte dessert range.
The challenge
With two pre sliced apple pies or chocolate torte slices per serving, the challenge was to present these luxury products in an appealing and attractive way whilst also protecting them in transit but crucially, to also make it easy for the customer to remove the products from the packaging and transfer to plate with easy.
Furthermore, the brief included the need for clear patch window to show the product off on the shelf. A standalone food safe insert was also required to contain the products and keep the slices apart.
The solution
A 415mu PE lined folding box board skillet was designed to house the cakes that included a 75mu clear polyester window allowing the desserts to be seen from above and from the side of pack. Litho printed with metallic inks the packaging also included a stand alone nested tray insert to hold each slice. Made of double sided PE board the insert provided a cradle for the product ensuring it arrived in perfect condition.
The result
With listings in Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, this skillet pack and insert has proved to be a success. With sales of the Apple Pie and Chocolate Torte exceeding expectations additional SKU lines are in development utilising the same design of packaging. A luxury product effectively packaged for everyone to enjoy!
